Change (Queen of the Damned)

i just posted another blog elsewhere about my love for the vampire flick 'queen of the damned', based purely on the awesome soundtrack - and yes, the movie itself is quite sensual and seductive in parts .. but i think my obsession with vampires came at a time in my life when i was embracing my shadow side (jungian psychology & robert johnson's writings) ...

there is a certain beauty in 'darkness' that most shun because they simply do not quite know how to handle their unconscious and subconscious desires. the darkness is often misunderstood for being a concept of evil in traditional western society but quite simply it is the yin to the yang, the night to the day, the sun and the moon ..

as francis bacon once said, 'there cannot be any light without dark' and vice versa - that is a whole new blog for another time altogether, but what i can say is that an implicit part of 'embracing one's shadow' is recognising and accepting one's own negative thoughts, behaviours or actions - things like fear, anger and resentment can stew away within a person without any outlet for release, but being aware of them allows me to see my 'whole' self in perspective and initiate any necessary changes (however slowly or arduously it may take).

music - especially 'dark' music can be a very cathartic, healing and soulful therapy for me - but just like chiron, the wounded healer, one can't really help heal others and the world without first going through their own pains and healing themselves to a degree ..

this video clip that i'm about to share with you is compiled from an erotic vampire scene (with fierce bloodlust tendencies) to the song 'change' by the deftones and is quite possibly my favourite song from the soundtrack .. enjoy vamplings!
