well what i can honestly say about this luscious track that has me spellbound & somewhat intoxicated at the moment?

i accidentally stumbled on it via a model's website - it was the perfect background accompaniment to fit his persona and image .. but the song being french really drew me in (being the connoiseur that i am in music) - lol ..

i had to enlist the help of my french cousin who is also a musician & artist amongst other things to find the artist - we decided it was one of those deep philanthropic soulful grooves ..

anyway, how surprised was i to find out that the song was actually by thievery corporation .. my cousin's attempt to decipher the lyrics for me led me to googling the translation .. and shocking of me not to know my french as well as i should since my birth certificate is in french & half my family on my dad's side live there!

whilst listening to triple j's live simulcast of goldfrapp's concert here last month, i heard 'strict machine' for the first time in years - isn't it funny how music & melody has a way of teleporting u elsewhere without rhyme or reason?

there's something hypnotic, dreamy & wonderlust about it - perhaps it's in the melodic nature or perhaps it's the seemingly altruistic & idealistic lyrics ..

actually it's reminiscent of a certain kind of oriental 80s feel to it ..

whatever the case, chairlift (the name of band) deserves kudos for this track .. check it out for yourself!

this is the cure's highest ranking video played on youtube to date .. i was mesmerised by their gig last year when i saw them at the entertainment centre. after a couple of decades, their set was tight as ever and long time cure fans were not disappointed!

i totally dig robert smith .. he was a definite cutie back in the earlier days & matured like fine wine - oh, and i've even had a dream or two about him as well .. probably representative of some archetypal projections repressed again .. who knows ?

and how could i ever forget the epically hauntingly beautiful 'pictures of you' .. this is a definite tear (or soul) jerker track - we've all had that one 'heartbreak' story .. the one that left us in a tragic mess for weeks, months, even years ..

i'm not sure if i've mentioned my love affair with certain smooth sultry jazz sounds yet .. but i have an immense addiction for the saxophone and the trumpet, not to mention that jazz makes me feel like the way a sassy sensual woman should feel when she's listening and dancing to jazzy tunes ..

i actually heard this song whilst cruising through the foxtel channels at my parents place - the background music is preset to one of the interactive air music channels (usually lounge music) and this song came on. it makes you just want to get up and dance in the lounge room and imagine yourself in havana in a not so seedy bar on the dancefloor ... or perhaps in a high rise chic apartment overlooking a cosmopolitan city like new york (central park west) just on nightfall with a glass of champagne lingering in your hand ..

well hallelujah!

ever since i left fbi 94.5 FM 3 years ago, i tune in when i can - over the years, my faves have been saturday morning's naked city', weeknights' 'sunsets' and whatever is on at the time when i'm in the car i guess .. but today, a new segment has taken out my top pole position!

'loose joints' on sunday arvos rocked my old retro soul sideways today with a few golden new but 'old' hits! new (to me), because i hadn't heard of the songs before today; old because some of the tunes are from the 70s (when i was born) .. woohoo! i get very excited when i stumble on new old stuff :)

anyway, i heard this rocking song from 70s rock band amadeo with a track called 'memories'. it sounds like it would be featured on the soundtrack to a porn film from the 70s, but i just dig the background riffs alrighty ..

ok it's like this ..

because of some of the shifts i've recently gone through, i've realised that sometimes in life we are constantly being given the chance to be 'tested' on those learnings, to step up and rise to the challenge or adversity each situation may bring us .. every day, in every way ..

anyway, yesterday i heard this track from a melbourne band called 'the emergency' with their track 'forever' - it's a dark dirty electro number .. yeh, another genre close to my heart (being the retro 80's chic that i am) ..

time keeps going on forever ..

i thought i would weave the title into some kind of meaning and significance (given the time & place) along with a shift in consciousness when i heard it ... AND also because it held some relevance to my horoscope today ..
